Jenny's back in SoCal!! Obviously gives all of us an excuse to venture out of our usual hit-up food spots to try new foodie places. We decided to spend the day in Newport and cross off Bear Flag, Slapfish and Afters Handcrafted Ice Cream. I know. We is fat.
First was Bear Flag.
The place was bigger than I had expected. There were lots of tables inside and outside.
There was even a side cashier for purchasing different cuts of fish to take home.
At the counter, there were multiple sizes of containers and meats you could choose from.
We ordered one and a half pounds of tuna, half pound of salmon, half pound of seaweed salad, half pound of guacamole and 4 tacos. All for 4 of us. LOL.
Honestly, we were pretty full by the end of this. But we already decided we were going to stop by Slapfish.
I mean, just look at the rewards. We had to try it out.
This was an entirely indoor restaurant, but there were lots of tables and no line, so we were able to get our food pretty quickly.
They even have their own brand of hot sauces!
We ordered 2 original lobster rolls for the 4 of us to share. The original consisted of hot rolls with lemon mayonnaise.
Bonus! Apparently, if you check in to their restaurant, you get free chilled lemon mayo lobster toast bites.
And then there was dessert... Leah had visited this place before and said it was bomb[dot]com. And she was right. This place was pretty small. No seating on the inside, but there were a few tables outside.
Pretty self explanatory directions. Pick a flavor of ice cream. You can order this in cup or as a filling for your donut. You can choose 1 topping with either option. If you go with the donut sandwich, they scoop a few spoonfuls between 2 halves of donuts. Then they take it to the back to "seal" the donut, which quickly heats up the dough. Then it's ready to eat!
I ordered the Blueberry Acai sorbet with no toppings. So good.
So full. But so worth it.
