If you're like me, and you have to have at least something spicy with everything that you eat, this is the place for you to go. Leah, Maxine, Jane and I decided to go Sunday night go satiate our Szechuan cravings. Just as Yelp notes, there's always a line. That's how good this place is. So when we got there, we weren't surprised that Leah had to sign her name down as the 20th in line. BUT....
Due to some destined fate that we were very fortunate to bestow upon, someone named Crystal was about 5th in line. Turns out she had ditched her reservations, so what would another smart (and sexy) Crystal with a fast reaction do in return? Yes. We stole someone's reservations.
We ordered the cold mala jelly noodles as a starting appetizer.
Then, after a
10 minute 15 minute discussion [edited per Leah] with the waiter, we ordered the toothpick LAMB cumin. Everyone who knows me knows that I do not eat lamb. ever. ever. ever. and duck too. But since this was the restaurant's most famous dish, I couldn't substitute it with beef. Though I definitely wouldn't have been able to do it without the others suggesting to go with lamb :) It was actually super good. The meat did not taste gamey at all, and the seasoning was perfect.
We also ordered the Boiled Fish in Hot Sauce, and it was amazing. There was so much fish, and the bottom was layered with tons of bean sprouts.
Lastly, there's no way we couldn't get the Szechuan styled fried green peas!
Overall, the food was delicious and had just the right amount of spicy-ness. All the dishes lived up to their expectations, and I would totally go again. Definitely not for the faint-hearted though :)
