How to Hot Pot Like a Chinese Person

Last minute decision to make some homemade hot pot tonight. Thankfully, Maxine was able to pick up all the ingredients from the 626, so we didn't have to blow our week's salary on one meal. This was the best home made hot pot I've eaten by far, and a lot has to do with the dishes that Maxine and Leah selected.

You can see in the picture below, the we decided to use two different broths: the first is Hai Di Lao's mala. For those of you who don't know what Hai Di Lao is, get in your car right now and get yo ass to Arcadia for one of the best hot pot experiences you will have. In case you're curious, I already made a post about it here. On the right side, we used Little Sheep herb broth. THAT was surprisingly amazing. Anyway, I'll list out the things after some food porn.

List of the food we had:

  • beef slices
  • pork slices
  • baby bok choy
  • spinach
  • A chai
  • tofu
  • stringy mushrooms
  • tofu noodles
  • glass noodles
  • thick noodles (omg)
  • fish balls for days
  • shrimp dumplings
  • taro (you definitely need this)
