Happy Chinese New Year everyone!! I hope you all were able to spend some time with family and friends this past weekend :)
I was lucky to have spent some time with my family on Sunday, since I don't get to see them too often. We went to the Crim (?) restaurant at Pacific Palms and just caught up for a couple hours :)
After lunch, I went to 99 ranch ALL BY MYSELF and was able to come out with all the ingredients needed for the friend's chinese new year dinner at Leah's - even the live fish (or was alive) and pork. So much food and so little time!!
I have to say, the teamwork going into preparing for the feast was definitely top notch, A+. Everything was basically divide and conquer.
1. Prepare the veggies.
Has anyone here ever prepared chopped chives before? I think I'm done with chives after dicing 2 fat bushels worth of them.... but after eating the dumplings, it was definitely worth it. #forthedumplings
2. Prepare the fish.
3. Prepare the dumplings.
Do you guys know about the cashew dumpling game? I learned it from the Lui family :), but essentially you hide a few cashews in some of the dumplings, and while eating, if you eat a dumpling with a cashew, you get to pick a random red pocket that contains either $1, $5, $10 or $20. We didn't have any money, so we took shots instead. lmao 0-100
4. Set the table.
Shout out to Lahtt Sauce!!!
